Trenchless Water Service Installation Repair-Replacement Featuring Directional Boring “Trenchless Technology” Monroe

When it comes to trenchless technology, this is a project that includes a variety of equipment, materials, and methods that are used to create minimal disruption when repairing, replacing or installing underground piping. This is done in a way that helps to avoid the potential problem of getting in the way of foot traffic or residential and business traffic as opposed to what takes place with open trenching.

New Installation Trenchless

Of all of the methods that are used for trenchless construction with new piping, the most well-known is that of microtunneling and mini-horizontal directional drilling.

Microtunneling

This is a method that is used to create pipelines while using laser-guided, remote-control, pipe-jacking systems without the entry of personnel. These microtunneling systems may be used for installing pipelines that reach up to 1,500 foot lengths or greater. It may also be used for a number of ground conditions including rock, boulder ground, and soft clay. When compared to an open-cut construction, the microtunneling method can be very cost-effective.

Mini-Horizontal Directional Drilling

This is a method known for installation of fairly small diameter piping for lengths of around 600 feet or more, yet they typically measure about 300 feet or less. The process here involves a pilot hole by way of fluid jetting, mechanical cutting or a combination of both to help ream the hole before pulling back the brand new pipe.

Replacement And Rehabilitation

If you happen to have an area where there is a great deal of congestion or the piping is located below a paved surface, pipe bursting or pipe splitting may be used to get to the area in question. The defective pipe is split and the fragments are displaced so that a new pipe of the same diameter can easily be drawn in.

It is also possible to use trenchless technology to help with rehabilitation. This is done by relining a host pipe that has deteriorated with an inner pipe or high-quality lining material.
